Northamptonshire housebuilder wins achievement awards for recycling 190 tonnes of wood

Housebuilder Mulberry Homes has been given achievement awards by Community Wood Recycling, for its commitment to cutting down on wood waste across three of its developments and recycling a total of 190 tonnes.

Community Wood Recycling is a nationwide network of 30 social enterprises, which have been recycling wood since 1998. The network collects wood waste from companies to stock its collection of reclaimed timber stores. The process prevents waste and emissions by recycling the wood locally.

The developer has received these awards for its recycling of wood from three developments, Launton Mews in Oxfordshire, Maulden Ridge in Bedfordshire and Meadow View Fields in Northamptonshire.

Mulberry Homes first received an achievement award in December 2021 for diverting 20 tonnes of wood waste for recycling at Launton Mews, and since then have added to that success and received an achievement award for contributing a further 50 tonnes of wood from the development.

At Maulden Ridge Mulberry Homes received the award for recycling 20 tonnes, and at Meadow View Fields it diverted a whopping 100 tonnes of wood from the site.

Richard Mehmed, Managing Director of Community Wood Recycling, said:

“By working in partnership with us, Mulberry Homes are helping to save precious resources and helping to keep the environmental impact of their sites to a minimum. They are also helping to create jobs and training opportunities for disadvantaged local people – many of whom will have their lives transformed by their time working with community wood recycling.

“We thank Mulberry Homes for working with us and congratulate them for reaching this impressive milestone.”

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said

“We are incredibly proud of the work we have done with Community Wood Recycling, and are delighted to receive these awards in recognition of our efforts.

“Protecting the environment and enriching the communities we build in are two things that are very important to Mulberry Homes, and we will continue to do so going forward”.
