Level 2 FFA in person course will be held at Regus Meridian Business Park, Leicester

The Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project (Lamp) will hold an in person mental health first aid training course on 6 July 2022. The Level 2 FFA course is intended for staff from companies throughout Leicestershire and Rutland, who want to implement dedicated mental health first aiders.

The course will run from 9.30am to 5pm at the Regus Meridian Business Park in Leicester, which is also the venue sponsor. The course aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to recognise mental ill health, enable them to have productive conversations about mental health at work and be able to direct their colleagues to appropriate professional help and resources. The course will also cover the effects of drugs and alcohol, provide an overview of the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan and highlight ways in which a positive mental health culture can be supported in the workplace.

Upon completing the course, participants will earn a certification in the Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health. The certification, awarded by First Aid Awards (FAA) Ltd, is a national qualification regulated by Ofqual and listed on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). The qualification will be valid for three years from the achievement date. Participants who successfully complete the course, will also receive a resource booklet with further advice and information to support colleagues in need, including relevant signposting tools.

Richard Kotulecki, Lamp’s CEO said:

“Unlike other providers, any profits that Lamp makes from these sessions go directly back into charitable work, including to help to run our advocacy service, so participants are not only helping their organisations, they are also supporting us as a charity.”

Lamp’s mental health first aid training courses form part of the charity’s Mental Health in the Workplace programme. Through these sessions and the Lamp Business Club, Lamp is able to offer its professional expertise in mental health to help businesses throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to develop mental health strategies and fulfil health and safety imperatives.
