Acclaimed Artwork Brought to Nottingham by Local Solicitors

Nottingham based Zia Harman Solicitors has purchased the acclaimed artwork “Year Long Dream” by Karolina Dwarska, a special piece that was only recently selected and displayed in the New Contemporaries Art Gallery in London.

The artwork “Year Long Dream” is a stand-out piece. A tapestry made from digital knitwork, it was featured in the New Contemporaries Art Gallery in London to great acclaim, and Time-Out called it one of “Eight amazing artworks you have to see.” Following the buzz around it, the artwork was purchased for an undisclosed sum by Zia Harman Solicitors last month.

Zia Harman Solicitors have already been contacted by Nottingham Contemporary Art Gallery in connection with loaning the piece for one of their upcoming exhibitions. There is also speculation about interest from a number of other art galleries.

Azam M. Z. Zia, Partner at Zia Harman, said:

“We have a history of working with clients in the creative space, and a lot of people have asked me why I chose this piece, as it is quite unusual.

“It reminds me of a story when I was starting out, when competition for graduate posts was fierce. All the top law firms were inundated with hundreds of applications and there was a story about a certain practice manager who would walk up to a pile of CVs, pick up half and throw them in the bin, exclaiming, ‘We don’t want the unlucky ones do we?’

“Well, like that, but without the cruelty, we managed to secure Karolina’s ‘Year Long Dream’ by a stroke of good fortune more than anything else.

“We have recently started our own law firm, and with all the challenges connected to that, especially in this climate, it is a pleasure to be involved in the beginning of someone else’s adventure. We feel honoured to be part of Karolina’s journey to international acclaim.”

Every year the New Contemporaries Art Gallery in London picks the best emerging artists and showcases their work. They are the leading organisation supporting emergent art practice from the UK's established and alternative art programmes and they have previously worked with artists such as Damien Hirst, Frank Bowling, David Hockney and Tacita Dean.

Azam concluded:

“Karolina is still a young artist, but it is clear she will have a blossoming career. She was recently awarded a Fine Art fellowship from Goldsmiths and has already successfully exhibited around England. She is incredibly talented and we feel very proud that we now own one of, what is sure to be soon, a grand collection of works.”
