RAMTECH PLEDGES SUPPORT TO NOTTINGHAM CITY CARBON NEUTRAL PLAN

Leading wireless solutions firm Ramtech has extended its environmental commitments with the purchase of 1500 ‘Treebombs’ that will help reduce carbon and improve biodiversity from its headquarters in Nottingham.

The initiative helps contribute to Nottingham City Council’s ‘Carbon Neutral Nottingham’ action plan, which encourages local businesses to join together in a bid to make the city the first to reach carbon neutral status by 2028.

Ramtech, which has 60 staff across the globe and 54 in the UK, already has a number of sustainable initiatives successfully implemented across the business, including a zero to landfill waste policy and 100 per cent renewable electricity supply to its Castle Marina head office.

Its IoT systems, which are designed to protect lives and enhance security measures in more than 30 countries, are designed with Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) directives in mind and come in 100 per cent recyclable packaging.

The latest undertaking by the business will allow its staff to distribute Alder Seedballs in unused green spaces, helping to improve germination rates and positively contribute to the wider climate crisis.

John Newbury, product innovation director at Ramtech, said:

“It’s with pride that we are furthering our commitment to do our part to help regenerate our green spaces across the Midlands and further afield.

“At Ramtech, we have a strong, sustainable continuous improvement philosophy that covers all aspects of our operations, from our IoT solutions that help to safeguard some of the biggest construction firms in the world, right through to our training and local community programmes.

“This latest venture is just one of many commitments that, as a business, will help to contribute positively to Nottingham City Council’s plan to make the city carbon neutral by 2028.  Of course, we ask anyone dropping a seedball to make sure they have the landowner’s permission before doing so.”

Formed in 1990, Ramtech is part of Halma, a global group of life-saving technology companies, which were named among Britain's ‘Most Admired Companies’ in 2021.

Ramtech’s solutions have been deployed on a number of high-profile projects, including Thames Tideway in London and a Naval Academy in Maryland USA, where its innovative WES3 wireless temporary fire, evacuation and medical alert system has been vital in protecting lives and site assets.
