Persimmon gives ‘smalls’ for a charitable cause

Employees at a Nottingham housebuilder have been delving deep into their drawers to provide vital underwear supplies for people in need.

Smalls For All is an international charity, which provides underwear to people living in poor conditions, orphanages, camps and schools, both in Africa and deprived areas of the UK. The charity’s work is now being supported by dozens of team members at Persimmon Homes Nottingham.

Sophie Cherry from Persimmon Homes Nottingham said:

“Having decent underwear is something most of us can take for granted.  But the Nottingham team has been collecting clothing for people who are not so fortunate.

“We are very grateful to our thoughtful colleagues who have taken part. Giving preowned and unwanted bras and new pants may not seem a big deal, but it can make a crucial difference, especially for youngsters living in challenging conditions.”

On behalf of Smalls for All, founder and chief executive Maria Macnamara said:

“We accept donations of new pants and new or gently worn bras. These are distributed to adults and children in greatest need.  Our supporter base has grown substantially over the past few years – we now have over 100,000 followers – and together we’re helping more and more people through our underwear donations.

“We really appreciate Persimmon Homes’ kind support. Each and every donation is making a real difference to people in Africa and the UK who can’t afford or can’t get any underwear. It is the gift of dignity.”

Persimmon Homes Nottingham has a number of developments across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with a new site coming soon in Bolsover.
