Leicestershire Business Voice appoints Sandra Wiggins as new board member

Leicestershire Business Voice (LBV), the voice for local businesses, has appointed Sandra Wiggins as its new Board member. Sandra is Managing Director of Castle Donington-based tensioned fabric displays manufacturer, DPI UK Limited, and joins the nine other members of the LBV board.

Sandra and the LBV board are responsible for offering an independent and collective voice to represent the local business community through engagements with other key local stakeholders, the public sector and regional bodies. LBV also provides members with a regular programme of stimulating business-themed webinars, events and debates.

Sandra co-founded DPI UK in 2014 to manufacture the hardware for textile soft signage display systems supplying to the retail and design sectors, and brand agencies . These products are used for branding, advertising and creating an environment in many sectors. Sandra also works as a manufacturing mentor and leadership coach under the ‘Authentically Balanced’ brand, supporting business leaders in the manufacturing and SME community to create cultural change by investing in emotional intelligence (EQ), physiological and behavioural safety . Sandra is a board member of the LLEP Innovation Board and is also an Enterprise Adviser at a local school.

Commenting on her new role, Sandra Wiggins said:

"When we think about the manufacturing community of our county, our thoughts go to the textile industry. People generally think about the long-established factories in the city centre that were under scrutiny by the media attention throughout Covid. There is still generally a poor perception of the industry, and I'm keen to work with LBV to open the eyes to the opportunities of our industry and extend this to include the diverse, vibrant county businesses.

“Manufacturing needs to be at the heart and centre of industry, and recognised for what it brings. With around 90 per cent of the Leicestershire ecosystem being micro businesses or those with under 50 employees, we need to provide the platform to enable this sector to get stronger and further increase productivity. We have an amazing opportunity to showcase what they can bring to the local economy and I’m interested in working with LBV to support this drive.”

Robin Pointon, Chair of LBV added:

“We’re delighted to welcome Sandra to the board, further strengthening our industry expertise and representation for manufacturing businesses across the county at the board-level.”
