New collaboration catches the eye

An independent Derby optometrist has teamed up with one of the region’s leading personal stylists to launch a new eyewear styling service to its customers.

The collaboration between Richard Petrie Optometrists and Nottingham’s Suzanne Suthers will see expert style consultants at the Littleover-based practice help customers find eyewear that matches their unique tastes, personality and style.

Customers can book a 90-minute consultation aimed at helping them discover stylish eyewear that matches their lifestyle. It includes a Style Personality Questionnaire to explore the customer’s personality and wardrobe and understand what style of frames they are looking for.

Frame and facial analysis will analyse the customer’s facial contours to help them find frames with the right shapes and sizes. And a Colour Matching service will help the stylists work out the most flattering and complimentary colours and tones, based on the customer’s complexion and skin, hair and eye colour.

Once the consultation has taken place, the stylists will recommend bespoke frames from some of the world’s top eyewear designers as well as a growing range of unique independent European brands. The stylists, Joanna Whittle and Matthew Johnson, are both highly experienced eyewear specialists who have achieved the UK’s only CPD-accredited qualification in eyewear styling.

The unique collaboration came about after Suzanne was commissioned by practice owner and optometrist Davina Dosanjh to do a colour match consultation and personal shop for her team’s staff uniforms, last October.

Both Davina and Suzanne recognised a synergy in the services they provide, and the partnership was born. The initiative will also see Suzanne refer her clients to the Richard Petrie team for eyewear styling, while Richard Petrie will introduce customers to Suzanne for personal styling and shopping.

Davina said: “We’re a forward-thinking practice that’s dedicated to innovation and staying ahead of the curve in terms of the eyecare and services we provide.

“We’re delighted to be collaborating with Suzanne for our new styling service, which is all about helping people find eyewear that matches their personality and style and gives them the confidence to look and feel good in whatever they are doing.”

Suzanne, a personal stylist and colour consultant with clients across the UK and internationally, added: “I’m pleased to be working with the team at Richard Petrie on this new service, which complements everything that I do.

“I want to help more people realise that they can look and feel amazing at any age, so they can enjoy their appearance, feel confident and rediscover their love of life. If you wear glasses, your eyewear is an important part of your overall look, so being able to find the style that’s right for you is essential.”

To launch the service and celebrate the collaboration, the Richard Petrie team is hosting an open day at its Burton Road practice on 24 May, where customers can meet Suzanne and eyewear stylists Joanna and Matt, view an extensive range of eyewear frames and book a consultation.

Richard Petrie Optometrists has served the community as an independent opticians for more than 40 years. It invests heavily in the latest eyecare technology and offers a wide range of services, including advanced eye examinations, retinal imaging, contact lens trials and subscriptions, myopia management, hearing care and a premium selection of frames for adults and children.

The practice has built up a loyal customer base in and around Derby, but also welcomes clients from further afield, including Devon and Wales, Lichfield and London. Davina, who joined the team as a Saturday girl in 2001 and took over the running of the practice eight years ago, puts its enduring success down to the quality personal service she and her team provides.

She said: “We do what we do, but we do it well. Our customers keep coming back because we offer an experience that you don’t get with the big high street optician chains.

“We’re a community-focused business dedicated to providing the best possible eyecare to all our customers. It’s what sets us apart and why people keep choosing us.”
