Adult Options Announced at DCG

Derby College Group (DCG) has a wide range of short, part time and distance learning courses starting after Easter which are designed to help people return to work, re-train for a new career or improve their promotion prospects.

The online application process has been simplified to enable people to access the courses they need which are available either at one of DCG’s campuses in Derby, Morley and Ilkeston or can be completed via distance learning to fit in with work and family commitments.

Highlights of the extensive spring and summer 2022 programme include:

  • A range of free courses at the Ilkeston Community College from psychology and volunteer training to basic British Sign Language and well-being
  • Teacher training, coaching and mentoring, again at Ilkeston Community College
  • Distance learning programmes in businesses and administration, management and leadership, health, IT, retail and health and safety
  • Brickwork, carpentry/joinery and plastering for beginners at the Hudson Building in Pride Park
  • Skills training in agriculture, arboriculture, animal care, floristry and equine at Broomfield Hall in Morley
  • ESOL and English and Maths at different campuses

DCG’s Deputy Principal Kate Martin said:

“The diversity and different options available through our adult learning programme reflects the fact that the jobs market is currently extremely buoyant and that many people now feel ready to progress their career aspirations after a challenging couple of years.

“Many of the courses are free of charge and we provide full support on the finance available such as Adult Learner Loans.

“We know that part-time students have demanding work and family commitments and we do everything we can to help them fit their studies into their lifestyle.

“Our excellent learning resources are conveniently located at sites in the local area and part-time students can take advantage of all the services available to full-time students."
