Merger of two leading PM firms announced

Nottingham-headquartered consultancy firm Pulse Consult has announced its full business merger with Birmingham-based Emerald Project Management, following a successful joint venture partnership since 2020.

Both businesses have shown proven collaboration and integration over the past 18 months, allowing teams to serve across multiple client projects while maintaining the positive cultures both firms were known for.

Working closely side-by-side, there has been considerable progress made in expanding resources and providing extra services, such as adding building surveys and health and safety compliance to their roster.

Moving forward with the next phase, the business will now operate fully as one, under the Pulse Consult banner, with directors Ian Carey, James Peake, James O’Keeffe and Kevin Jones at the helm.

Ian Carey, managing director at Pulse, said:

“This merger has solidified the fantastic partnership that we’ve had with Emerald since 2020 and represents progress for us both, now growing together as one business. The shared ethos and aligned values Pulse has had with Emerald has made the collaboration hugely successful, and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”

James Peake, director at Pulse, added:

“We have already been able to develop and expand our offering to clients, and the teams have worked brilliantly together, giving us the confidence to move forward with this merger. Both teams have supported with commissions and key clients, and with greater opportunities in the pipeline, Pulse is going from strength-to-strength.”

Established in 2009, Pulse Consult is a multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy with offices in Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester, Bristol, and London.

Emerald was established in 2013 and has operated from a Birmingham office, with team members in both Cornwall and Belgium. It was established to supply professional consultancy to the world’s largest healthcare company across EMEA, developing its services outside of the core quantity surveying and project management services and to a wider range of sectors including hospitality, retail, manufacturing and automotive.

James O’Keeffe, director at Pulse and formerly of Emerald, said:

“It is great to see this merger now confirmed, after such a positive 18 months together. It has given us all more opportunities to grow, develop careers, and expand the Pulse project portfolio. Both companies navigated the Covid-19 pandemic well, and since working together, I have seen how flexible the business has become. We have been able to discuss decisions and support each other with new challenges.”

Kevin Jones, director at Pulse and formerly of Emerald, added:

“We are looking forward to realising our ambitions for growth while maintaining the core values that brought us together in the first place. The team at Pulse is client-focused, passionate about their work and take huge pride in their people, so we know that it is going to be a great fit.

“As well as our complementary sectors, we have been able to explore new avenues and deliver a more comprehensive service to our clients. It’s an exciting time for all.”
