Nottinghamshire Site Manager secures second consecutive industry award for new homes in Bingham

A Senior Site Manager responsible for overseeing the delivery of hundreds of homes at a new housing development in Bingham has received a prestigious Seal of Excellence award from the National House Building Council (NHBC).

Dane Mumford – who is from Nottingham and has worked for David Wilson Homes for eight years – has collected his second consecutive Seal of Excellence award for his work at David Wilson Homes’ Romans’ Quarter development, off Dunsmore Avenue.

Dane is one of just 26 winners in the NHBC’s East region to achieve the feat this year. Seven of the East region winners are also David Wilson Homes Site Managers.

The annual Seal of Excellence awards form the second stage of the NHBC’s Pride in the Job scheme, which rewards site managers across the country for their commitment to delivering high-quality homes.

Dane (36) said:

“To be an NHBC award winner is a real privilege, and it’s a reflection of what a great team effort can achieve. The Seal of Excellence award win reflects the quality in each home at Romans’ Quarter at every build stage from foundation to finish.”

For the NHBC Pride in the Job awards, site managers across the country have their development and management skills judged not only on the two separate marking visits, but regularly by the NHBC building inspectors when they carry out their five-stage inspections.

These accolades rate site managers against key criteria such as technical expertise, health and safety, consistency, leadership and attention to detail. The awards celebrate the vital role site managers play in ensuring new homes are delivered on-time, on safe sites and to the highest quality standards.

Dane added:

“I began my career in the industry in 2004 as a Bricklaying Apprentice, and moved into trainee management in 2014 with David Wilson Homes, and ever since then my career has gone from strength to strength.

“I really enjoy my job role as a Senior Site Manager, it comes with a lot of responsibility such as ensuring everyone’s safety on site, the quality of customer’s new homes, and making sure we hit targets and deadlines under a lot of constraints such as the recent material supply delays.

“My favourite part of the job is appreciating the end product just before the customers move in to their brand new homes. It gives you a real sense of pride to be part of that journey.

“I feel a huge sense of achievement to be considered as a winner amongst some of the best site managers in the country at such an early stage in my career.

“I’d like to thank my management team, John Carpenter and Charles Mann for their continued support and all the trades and operatives on site here at Romans’ Quarter. Without them, we would not be able to achieve what we have done over the last four to five years.”

Darren Langton, Construction Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“Our Site Managers are on the ground each and every day making sure David Wilson Homes housing developments are operating smoothly and to the high standards we set. We’d like to congratulate all of our award winners for their continued hard work.

“With our employees winning Seal of Excellence awards, it demonstrates the long-term commitment we’ve made to providing our customers with the best possible service.”

This is the 17th year in a row that David Wilson Homes’ parent company, Barratt Developments PLC, has won more awards than any other housebuilder in the country, securing the reputation of being considered the very best in the industry.

David Wilson Homes is building a selection of three, four, and five bedroom homes at Romans’ Quarter.
