Midlands planning consultancy expands Leicester team with new hire

With almost 19 years’ experience working in local government, Jacqueline Jackson has joined Marrons Planning

Marrons Planning - Leading Planning Consultancy - Offices Nationwide

– expanding the leading Midlands consultancy’s Leicester office hub.

Taking on the role of planning director, Jacqueline joins the consultancy after more than three years as development management group leader at Charnwood Borough Council – a role she worked her way up to after joining the local authority as a trainee planning officer in 2003.

Jacqueline will be developing and growing the company’s Leicester team, and liaising with its Stratford-upon-Avon, Nottingham and London hubs, as well as taking on a leading role in a wide range of projects – from medium to large-scale residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes.

With a strong leadership and management background, Jacqueline will nurture and mentor junior team members, maintain and foster a high-performance culture, and play a key role in making strategic decisions to drive the business forward.

Jacqueline said: “I am very excited to have joined the Marrons Planning team and be taking on this new challenge.

“As I have spent my entire career in the public sector, there isn’t much I haven’t come across or dealt with – from small applications and listed buildings all the way through to sustainable urban extensions. I am looking forward to using the knowledge I have learned in local government, as well as my leadership and business management skills to drive Marrons Planning forward.”

During her time in the public sector – which also included two years at Rushcliffe Borough Council as a senior planning officer – Jacqueline was the case manager for Leicester City Football Club’s world-class training ground, as well as a sustainable urban extension in Loughborough. She has also written and implemented a number of new policies and procedures to ensure better efficiency.

As Charnwood Borough Council’s development management group leader, all the district’s planning applications and strategic projects and developments – as well as planning enforcement, and customer service and administration – fell under Jacqueline’s remit.

She said: “No two days are ever the same in the world of planning. There’s always a new challenge or a different problem that requires a solution. It is also great seeing a site’s regeneration and the impact those improvements have on a local area.”

Jacqueline joins following a string of appointments by Marrons Planning, including Simon Macklen as director of economics to head up the firm’s new socio-economics service, RIBA chartered architect and urban design expert Alex Craggs in support of its recently-launched urban design service, and Kevin Exley as principal planner.
