Thousands of faces already added to Victoria Centre's 'Wall of Fame'

More than 2,000 people have already added their faces to Victoria Centre’s new ‘Wall of Fame’, marking the start of the centre’s 50thbirthday celebrations.

The new interactive feature was unveiled just over a week ago, inviting visitors to take their picture using a selfie screen before adding them to a grid on the wall. Over the coming year, 14,000 pictures will merge together to unveil a series of giant hidden images.

Shoppers who have already added their faces to the wall are in good company as it also includes famous faces from Nottingham, with the likes of Vicky McClure, Jermaine Jenas, LadBaby and Carl Froch all sending their best wishes and providing selfies.

The Wall of Fame, which is just outside of Tesco on the lower mall, is the first of many events and surprises that will take place throughout 2022, marking 50 years since Victoria Centre first opened its doors.

“There has been a great atmosphere in the centre this week, particularly with so many people striking their best poses and making it onto our Wall of Fame,” said Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre. “It was a great way to kick off a memorable year and celebrate 50 years of being in the heart of the city.

“The exterior of the centre has also been decorated ready for our big birthday year, with new additions to the glass frontage of our Clocktower dining entrance on Milton Street to commemorate the milestone.

“We’ve got so much planned this year, and we’d love shoppers to celebrate with us in any way they can. And you never know, you may just see some of those famous faces from the Wall of Fame popping up in the centre for real. Watch this space.”

For those unable to make it into the centre, pictures can still be submitted to the Wall of Fame by posting a selfie to Instagram or Twitter using #vcwalloffame, where the centre team will print and add your picture to the wall on your behalf.
