From Bedroom to Showroom, how Sparta Spa’s has experienced rapid growth.

In 2019 a pair of retail sales managers set out in partnership to create a luxury rental hot tub business, seeing an opportunity for end-to-end experiences, including Bluetooth entertainment, hampers, projectors and disco balls. 

The business was an overnight success, within two months of starting they had 8 hot tubs and were booked 12 weeks in advance.

No further than 6 months later, Matt and Nick decided to go it alone, they resigned from their day jobs and invested into the luxury hard shell hot tub market. In an almost tragic form of irony, one month later Covid had forced the UK into lockdown.

Nick Hill, Founder said

“Going into the first lockdown in 2020, one month into starting a business was truly terrifying, there was no eligibility for Furlough and no support for sole traders, we knew we just had to keep calm and carry on.”

And exactly that, is what they did.  Going from the inflatable rental market into the ownership market was a big leap however within their first year of trading, sales were explosive with over 500 enquiries every single month and growing from a team of 2, to a team of 6.

After 12 months of running the business from bedrooms, coffee shops and restaurants – anywhere that had Wi-Fi essentially, they decided to invest into their own showroom based in Ripley, Derbyshire.

Matthew Brown, Founder commented:

“One of the hardest things to manage for us over the last year was stock levels, there was a 600% recorded increase in sales, at a time when the world wasn’t manufacturing to meet demand.  Investing in our own new premises, has allowed us to invest in stock, improve our time to delivery and expand our range of offerings, its exciting.”
