Victoria Centre hails latest experience a 'glowing' success

Over 31,000 people took a trip through Victoria Centre’s enchanted ‘Glow Room’ throughout the festive period, making it the centre’s most successful experience to date.

The ‘Glow Room’, featuring 30,000 LED lights, playing host to the centre’s Christmas fairytale, written by local author Jamie Croshaw, where visitors were guided through an enchanted forest and were introduced to a shy little bird called, Robin.

Its record-breaking event raised £5,500 in voluntary donations for Victoria Centre’s chosen charity, Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, in Loughborough.

Looking back at the success of the Glow Room, Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said:

“Christmas is all about making memories with our loved ones, and the Glow Room really helped us achieve that in a completely new and innovative way. It was such a pleasure to see so many families and friends stop by the centre to tick off their Christmas shopping lists and finish their day with a festive trip through our indoor winter wonderland.

“I can’t count the number of times I saw someone beaming from ear-to-ear when walking out of the Glow Room, not to mention the people who have shared some amazing photographs from the experience.

“The generosity of our shoppers continues to astound us too, with thousands of pounds raised over the last year to support the incredible work of the Rainbows team. With Christmas now over for another year, it’s time to prepare for our 50th birthday celebrations. Stay tuned for some exciting plans to come throughout the year!”
