Pall-Ex Group delivers festive cheer to Leicestershire charities

Pall-Ex Group has delivered donations to six Leicestershire charities as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

The logistics giant presented LOROS, Shuttlewood Clarke Foundation, Rainbows Hospice, Leicester Hospitals Charity, Focus Charity and Olivia’s Journey with a donation of £1,000 each.

These contributions were included in the Group’s 25 donations to 25 charities across the UK, in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

The charities were nominated by employees and network members at Pall-Ex and Fortec Distribution Network, which reflected in the variety of good causes chosen for the donations.

The six local charities selected were announced during Pall-Ex Group’s 25th Anniversary celebration at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, hosted by TV star, James Nesbitt.

Pall-Ex Group has donated £75,000 to good causes to mark the milestone, including £1,000 donations to an additional 19 charities around the country, a £25,000 donation to veterans’ mental health charity Combat Stress and another donation of over £1,700 to Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice in Coventry.

Barry Byers, Managing Director – UK Business Units at Pall-Ex Group, comments:

“As our 25th anniversary year comes to a close, we felt it was important to support charitable causes that are at the centre of our community.

“We wanted to help good causes that are close to the hearts of both the staff and members of the Pall-Ex and Fortec networks, and this is reflected in the variety of charities chosen.

“Every single one of the charities selected performs incredible work and these donations will enable them to continue their good work following a tough couple of years.”

LOROS provides free, specialist and high-quality care to more than 2,500 terminally ill people a year and was nominated by two members of staff from Pall-Ex shareholder member Trucklink.EU who have previously raised funds for the charity.

Shuttlewood Clarke Foundation supports the elderly, adults with disabilities and young people in Markfield and the surrounding area through outdoor and wellbeing activities, and was nominated because of the services it provides to the local community.

Loughborough-based Rainbows Hospice, which relies on donations for 85% of its funding, was voted for by Pall-Ex staff members and provides care for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Leicester Hospitals Charity ensures that patients, visitors and staff have the best possible experience in any of Leicester’s three main hospitals.

The charity was nominated by Pall-Ex staff and is currently raising funds to increase capacity in the Leicester Royal Infirmary’s Chemotherapy Suite to provide an additional 4,000 treatments a year.

Focus Charity, in Leicester City Centre, helps young people aged 13-25 gain employability and life skills.

Nominated by a member of staff at Pall-Ex Group, it supports young people living in poverty and facing serious issues around mental health and child protection.

Olivia’s Journey follows the story Olivia, a six-year-old girl from Coalville who was diagnosed with a rare type of cancerous brain tumour, Ependymoma, in October 2014.

She continues to live life to the full and the Olivia’s Journey Facebook page provides updates for friends, family and supporters so they can keep up-to-date with her battle against this disease.
