TWO NEW APPOINTMENTS BOLSTER NELSONS’ EMPLOYMENT LAW TEAM

Leading East Midlands-based law firm Nelsons has welcomed a new associate and senior associate to its expert employment law team as part of its continued expansion in the region.

Beth Bearder has joined the Derby office as a senior associate, while Amir Ahmed joins as an associate based in Leicester, both with a wealth of experience between them.

Beth has been a qualified solicitor for more than eight years, having previously worked a law firm in the East Midlands. Meanwhile, with more than six years’ worth of experience, Amir worked at national law firm Weightmans LLP as a trainee solicitor, before qualifying in 2020. They both specialise in several areas of employment law, including discrimination, unfair dismissal claims and contracts of employment.

Beth said:

“I’m so excited to have joined one of the region’s leading law firms that is so well respected by other professionals. The culture, vision, and values of Nelsons all resonated with me, and I love empowering my clients and steering them through the complex legal issues they face.

“No two days are ever the same and I relish working as part of a team, so I’m looking forward to working as part of the outstanding employment department alongside Laura, Peter, Melanie, Ella, Sonia, and Amir. It’s an exciting time for the firm as we approach 2022 and I am keen to build relationships with existing clients as well as developing new client relationships”.

Amir added:

“Being from Leicester, I wanted to join a law firm with a strong presence in the East Midlands and Nelsons has a very well-respected employment team, which I am very much looking forward to working alongside.

“Nelsons has a clear, focussed business strategy, as well as a huge emphasis on nurturing, training, and learning which is incredibly important to me as well. The culture of the office is so positive, the team here is very friendly and I can’t wait to see what the coming months, and years, hold as I settle into my new role.”

Beth completed her BA in Law and her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Nottingham Law School, while Amir graduated from University of Birmingham with a BA in Ancient History, followed by completion of his postgraduate studies in Law and his LPC at BPP Law School.

Laura Kearsley, head of Nelsons’ employment team, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Beth and Amir to the team. The past year has been an incredibly busy one for our department, meaning we’ve been on the lookout for individuals who we think would make a perfect addition to our offices. I look forward to seeing them flourish in their new roles.”
