Quirky burger sales by Leicester pub company raises £8,750 for Rainbows

A Leicester pub company has raised £8,750 for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People by serving a special meal.

The Rainbow Burger has been on the menu at two of Leicester’s best-known pubs, The Globe and Marquis Wellington since May 2019. For each burger sold, 50p is donated to the hospice which cares for children and young people with life-limiting illnesses, including those from Leicestershire.

The Globe and Marquis Wellington are two of 10 establishments in the Ever So Sensible Group, which runs pubs, restaurants, and hotels in the East Midlands, to take part in the fundraising initiative.

James Dolan, Operations Director at Ever So Sensible, said:

“Back in 2019 we asked our teams which charity they would most like to support next, and Rainbows came out on top.  The hospice does such great work for the people of Leicestershire and beyond, bringing a little bit of joy and care to those that need it most. We have loved supporting them in our own little way over the last few years, and we are looking forward to continuing our support in the future.”

Emily Wright, Corporate Fundraiser at Rainbows, added:

“What a fantastic idea to produce a Rainbow Burger and what an incredible amount to raise. Thank you so much to everyone at the Marquis Wellington, The Globe, Ever So Sensible, and all of their wonderful customers for this generous donation.”
