Run Nelsons run: leading law firm complete half marathon for local charities

Three team members from leading city centre law firm Nelsons have completed a half marathon in aid of the firm’s chosen charities, raising £416.25 in the process.

Every year, employees at Nelsons vote to select the charities they wish to back and, this year, staff at the firm’s Nottingham office, based in Pennine House on Stanford Street, chose to support the St Ann’s-based charity Stonebridge City Farm.

Tim Atkinson, digital marketing manager, completed the Robin Hood Half Marathon the fastest of the three, with a time of one hour and 35 minutes, with other team members - Laura Kearsley, partner and employment law solicitor, and Paul Crosby, systems developer - following with times of one hour 52 minutes and two hours three minutes respectively.

Tim said:

“As the three of us run on a regular basis, we thought running the local half marathon would be an ideal event for us to raise some more money for our chosen charities. The half marathon is a very highly regarded event and it was a pleasure to be part of a race that has such an iconic history, while supporting three very special causes at the same time.”

Stewart Vandermark, chief executive at Nelsons, said:

“It’s at the heart of our vision that we make a positive difference and contribute to the lives of others. Every year, I’m continually impressed by our team’s dedication to raising money in different, creative ways and this half marathon is no exception. I’d like to congratulate Tim, Laura and Paul on completing the Robin Hood Half Marathon and I look forward to seeing what our next fundraiser will bring.”

Stonebridge City Farm sits in the heart of Nottingham city and relies solely on donations to give visitors a taste of the countryside. The farm’s operation enables the charity to support more than 140 volunteers who are on-site each week, many of whom have a mental health illness or learning disability.

Peter Armitage, general manager at Stonebridge, said:

“We’d like to thank the team at Nelsons for arranging another fundraiser to support the services we provide in St Ann’s. As a community charity, we rely on support from local people and organisations, so Nelsons’ support really does make a huge difference.”

Nelsons has also chosen to support the Alex’s Wish and Macmillan Cancer Support – its nominated charities for Leicester and Derby respectively.
