Last chance to enter Leicestershire nature photography competition

Housebuilder Mulberry Homes is calling for final entries to its nature photography competition.

The developer is encouraging local communities close to its Leicestershire development to get involved, where they can be in with a chance of having their image featured in a nature-themed 2022 calendar and winning prizes worth £100.

Local amateur photographers, nature enthusiasts and animal lovers of all ages can participate by submitting their very best local wildlife and nature photographs to mulberryhomes@unsworthsugden.co.uk.

The entry deadline is Monday, November 15 at 5pm and participants can submit as many entries as they’d like. The competition is split into two categories, ‘adult’ and ‘junior’, with those aged under 18-years-old eligible for the latter.

Representatives at Mulberry Homes and a panel of community partners will then judge the entries and select 12 winners to feature in a 2022 calendar, with one image representing each month of the year.

Each winner will receive vouchers worth £100, which can be used towards photography equipment of their choice. Out of the 12 winning entries, Mulberry Homes will also be choosing one overall adult winner and one overall junior winner, who will each be awarded an additional £50 and the accolade of being featured on the calendar’s front page.

The calendars will be given out to customers, local residents, community partners and partnered charities, and will be displayed in all of the Mulberry Homes marketing suites.

The competition forms part of the developer’s ongoing ecology campaign, in which they have pledged to support local wildlife and rescue sanctuaries nearby to where they operate.

Kerry Jones, Sales and Marketing Director at Mulberry Homes, said:

“We’re thrilled that our photography calendar competition has been hugely popular so far. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed looking at all of the entries and we can’t wait to see what else we receive.

“At Mulberry Homes, it is a huge part of our mission to protect the local wildlife and create safe environments for nature to grow and thrive. Raising awareness of how we can keep vulnerable wildlife, such as hedgehogs and barn owls, protected is something very close to our hearts, and we’re delighted to be sharing our passion with the local community.

“We’re looking forward to receiving more entries of the very best nature spots, local animals and more that Leicestershire has to offer. We’d especially love for more children and teenagers to get involved, as we will be crowning one participant aged under 18 as the overall junior winner.

“I’d encourage anyone who wants to enter to submit their photograph(s) without delay, as the deadline is fast approaching. We cannot wait to create our very own 2022 calendar and award our favourite photographers with prizes worth £100.”

This year, Mulberry Homes is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To honour the occasion, the housebuilder is running a campaign in which each month it is donating £1000 to a different local charity or public organisation nearby to its developments. This follows the success of its Distinctly Local initiative, in which Mulberry Homes contributed over £10,000 to local charities and businesses throughout 2020.
