Davidsons Homes employee climbs the career ladder

Alex Burnham has been promoted to the role of Trainee Assistant Site Manager, just 16 months after he first joined Davidsons Homes.

The 28-year-old joined the housebuilder’s South Midlands region last January as a forklift driver and is currently stationed in Market Harborough at Davidsons Homes’ Lubenham View development.

Alex, from Rushden, began his career in construction nine years ago as a labourer and has since worked as a forklift driver for various developers.

Alex said:

“I’m delighted to have received this promotion and I’m especially pleased to have progressed to this level without a university degree.

“I’ve been interested in construction and architecture from a young age, but originally thought a career in housebuilding was out of reach, so to come this far is a particularly proud achievement.”

Davidsons Homes is supporting Alex’s progression up the career ladder by funding various training sessions.

Alex commented:

“I’m looking forward to attending the Site Management Safety Training Scheme course as well as the Scaffolding Awareness Training day, where I hope to build on my existing knowledge and learn invaluable new skills.”

As part of his new role, Alex helps to oversee the day-to-day running of the site and is responsible for ensuring all homes are built to the company’s quality standards.

He said:

“One of my main duties is to ensure any snags are dealt with before the home is passed over to the customer, as well as ensuring all properties are built within a reasonable time period.

“The last few months have been a real learning curve as this role differs greatly from my previous position as a forklift driver, with my responsibilities now far more wide-ranging.

“A lot goes on behind the scenes to produce the best possible product for our customers, and I am looking forward to becoming more and more hands on, such as ordering building materials and interacting with buyers.”

Alex is passionate about Davidsons Homes as a company and has many goals he wishes to fulfil within his new role.

He said:

“Davidsons Homes’ vision is unlike any other developer in terms of its attention to detail and its bespoke joinery and craftsmanship.

“My main priority is to ensure construction and completion targets are met on time and that my team stay on track with the build programme.”

Once he has mastered his current position, Alex hopes to progress to the role of Assistant Site Manager.

He added:

“I take great pride in my work and I’m committed to learning as much as I can to further my career with Davidsons Homes.”

Davidsons Homes is building a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes at Lubenham View, off Lubenham Hill, Market Harborough.
