ONE-OF-A-KIND SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE BAGS FINALIST SPOT IN THE GROCER GOLD AWARDS

FIRST-of-its-kind subscription service The Buyer’s Discovery Club has been announced as a finalist in The Grocer’s 2021 Gold Awards in the ‘Business Initiative of the Year’ category.

 

The club, which was launched by leading food and drink consultancy The Good Food Group, was designed to connect brands with buyers, providing bespoke boxes to major retailers every month. Each box champions the best new brands, matching them with the ideal buyer for their category to help them gain exposure while giving buyers the advantage to find the next big in-store listing.

Its founder and managing director Ross Carlin also evolved the service last year by hosting its first virtual event ‘Discovery Club Live’, which gave suppliers the chance to meet and gain exposure with buyers during 15-minute pitch sessions. Following its success, the club will be taking the format online and launching a brand-new platform this summer.

Ross said:

“We’re delighted that the Buyer’s Discovery Club has been announced as a finalist. The Grocer awards are among the most prestigious and to be up against some of the UK’s major retailers, some of them which we work directly with, is an honour.

“We’ve worked hard to develop the club, which works solely on a subscription basis, so that brands have the opportunity to put their products into buyers’ hands every month. Our focus is to ensure new and disruptive brands are being seen and heard, and ultimately the right products end up on the right shelves. This also means that we work incredibly hard to ensure we filter through thousands of products supporting buyers with providing only the perfect products to support with their range reviews.”

The Buyers Discovery Club will be joining retailers Co-op, Central England Co-operative, Company Shop Group and Bestway Wholesale, in the final, and the winner will be announced during an awards evening at the historic and stunning Guildhall in London on Tuesday 5 October.

Ross added:
