HOMEBUILDER LOOKS BACK ON £8.5M COMMITMENT TO DERBYSHIRE AS COMMUNITIES COMPLETE

This time last year, the leading housebuilder was building new homes in Drakelow, Ashbourne, Doveridge, Mickleover and Burton-upon-Trent with a combined £8.5m being invested in the area via the local authorities.

One year on and Doveridge Park in Doveridge and Shepherd’s Rest in Burton-on-Trent each have one home remaining, whilst Drakelow Park in Drakelow and Ramblers’ Gate in Ashbourne are also in the final stages.

Over the period of time in which 753 properties were built at its five developments in the county, David Wilson Homes underpinned approximately 1,506 jobs for local people.

John Reddington, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes East Midlands, said:

“As a five star housebuilder, we are very aware of the vital role we play in supporting local communities in and around the areas we build houses.

“Our time in Derbyshire has been thoroughly enjoyable and, as our communities continue to flourish and complete, we’ll look forward to our next opportunity to invest in the county.”

Sales have soared at Shepherd’s Rest and Doveridge Park in Burton-on-Trent and Doveridge respectively, leaving just one property remaining at each development before they are completely sold out.

Shepherd’s Rest has been a hotspot for growing families and, towards the end of its time, had a brand new play area unveiled by the homebuilder.

David Wilson Homes supported the local community, including the introduction of its Building Buddies Award scheme; a year-long academic project with Shobnall Primary School to encourage young children to consider careers in construction.

At its Mickleover development, the housebuilder has hosted multiple ‘Have a Go Days’ with Senior Site Manager, Zoe Stothard, which encouraged girl guides to try their hand at construction tasks and consider a career in the industry.

Doveridge Park, which was suited to first time buyers and growing families alike, was another exciting community which allowed the housebuilder to extend its support in Derbyshire.

During its time building in the area, David Wilson Homes sponsored Doveridge FC’s Under-7s, Under-11s and Girls’ teams, whilst also donating teddy bears to the children of Small Oaks Nursery and sponsoring its minibus..
