SALUTE YOUR LOCAL HEROES THIS NEWARK ARMED FORCES DAY

Newark-based specialist car discount group, Motorfinity, is calling on the East Midlands business community to join the team in a salute to mark this year’s Newark Armed Forces Day.

In an effort to commemorate the cancelled event, which was due to be held on 21 June, the motoring specialist is inviting the Newark and wider East Midlands business community to salute the UK armed forces and capture the gesture on camera to spread the message of appreciation across the region.

As part of the event, Motorfinity is encouraging those who get involved to donate towards the Newark Patriotic Fund (NPF) and Beeston-based charity Forces In The Community through its Virgin Money Giving page.

To give thanks for the continued efforts of the UK’s armed forces throughout the Covid-19 outbreak, Motorfinity, which specialises in providing exclusive discounts for defence workers, NHS and emergency services, social care and teachers, will donate 100 per cent of the funds raised to its two nominated charities.

Money raised will support the provision of a number of vital services at the NPF, including assisting ex-service personnel with job applications, housing and CV writing as well as wellbeing and financial management training. Similarly, funds for Forces In The Community will go towards supporting employment, welfare and benefits, housing, mental health and counselling, as well funding various projects that support veterans.

Commenting on the initiative, Motorfinity CEO, Daniel Briggs, explained:

“It goes without saying that the UK armed forces community have done so much for the entire country throughout the years. And on our doorstep here in Newark, there is a fantastic group of veterans and serving heroes that have given so much for our freedom and safety. Even in the face of the pandemic, many of them have out themselves on the frontlines of our vaccination centres to give their time to support the roll-out.

“We’re immensely proud to have kickstarted this fantastic campaign and are delighted that so many members of this close-knit business community here in Newark have already joined in and donated to the cause. We’re also encouraging anyone getting involved to join us in going the extra mile by setting up bake sales or sponsored dress-ups in army attire to mark the occasion ahead of 21 June.”

Businesses taking part should gather their teams and photograph or video the salute and send your submissions to motorfinitycreative@motorfinitygroup.co.uk by Friday 18 June.

On 21 June, to mark what would have been the event’s annual celebration, the Motorfinity team will release a compilation video of the community’s recognition.
