With over 15 years of successful charity management experience, Irshad’s most recent role was Chief Executive of the Muath Trust -one of the largest communitybased third sector organisations in the UK, offering quality education, training, and essential services to meet the needs of different sections of the community.

“The charity has attained some incredible achievementsand was recently honoured with the coveted Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. With my previous experiencein charity management and growth, I’m looking forward to building on the established success of Children First Derby and developing the charity further.”
Established in 1974, Children First Derby provides three bespoke services; a Family Support Service, a Mentoring Service to supportchildren and young people aged between 10 to 18 years, and a Supervised Contact Service for Looked After Children in Derby.
Operating from its premises in Leopold Street, Derby, the charity is run by a small, dedicated team of staff and over 60 family support, mentoring and fundraising volunteers, providing much-needed support to around 400 vulnerable children, young people, and families every year both in the Derby area and beyond.

Irshad, an Engineering graduate with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), has worked in senior management positions in the charity sector for over 15 years.
His industry experience includes a number of senior business development roles in the financial services, before becoming Executive Director of a leading research and education charity based in Leicestershire. Irshad spent over eight years in his most recent position, as Chief Executive of the Muath Trust, developing and growing the Trust through strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and specialist institutions.
About Children First Derby
Established in 1974 by local Derby resident, Milly Wigley after reading about the death of a neglected child, the charity’s founding aim is the relieve the distress and suffering experienced by children and families in the local area, particularly those suffering from violence or abuse.
Children First Derby provides three bespoke services; family support, mentoring services and supervised contact for looked after children.
The charity operates from its premises in Leopold Street, Derby, and is run by a dedicated team of staff and local volunteers.
Charity patrons – the charity has three charity patrons: Sir Stephen Moss, Dame Vivienne Westwood and Gwen Taylor.
Children First Derby founder, Etheleen Mildred Wigley (Milly), has been awarded the MBE for her work dedicated to vulnerable children.
