BGT winner signs exclusively with leading Midlands-based talent agency

Leading Midlands-based talent agency Champions (UK) plc has exclusively signed former Britain’s Got Talent winner, soldier, and magician Richard Jones.

Lance Corporal Richard Jones, also known as ‘The Military Illusionist’, joins a wealth of celebrities on Champions’ roster, including Leicestershire-based X-Factor singer Sam Bailey, and recent Dancing on Ice Star and Olympic Skier, Graham Bell.

Richard is a motivational speaker for touring army troops, a long-term advocate for multiple military charities and a successful entertainer. And during recent times, his act has adapted to online and virtual livestreamed events.

He said, “This year, my tour has had to adapt to meet the new needs of consumers looking for entertainment at-home and socially distanced, rather than my usual on-stage illusions. My virtual magic show has been one which I’ve really enjoyed bringing to the masses.”

“I am very excited to team up with such an advanced team of professionals across events and entertainment management, PR and digital marketing, and am looking forward to fully embracing all opportunities that come my way!”

Wowing the Britain’s Got Talent judges in 2016, Richard became the first and only magician to win the competition and has since toured the world, performing for various celebrities and members of the Royal Family.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the alliance, John Hayes, CEO of Champions (UK) plc said: “As a celebrity agency experienced in the entertainment industry, we have seen huge change in the sector, and we are excited to partner with talent like Richard, who have taken on the challenge to go virtual during these times.”

With COVID-19 putting plans on hold for the entertainment industry, Richard is looking forward to bringing his magical offerings to a host of events once again, following the recent opening of hospitality on May 17th.

“After such a difficult time for everyone in the entertainment industry, I am excited to see the whites of people’s eyes on stage again. I can’t wait to wow everyone with all the new tricks I’ve been working on over lockdown.”

Richard has maintained his mystique throughout the pandemic, performing virtually for audiences around the world in his purpose-built studio to lift the spirits of everyone involved.

“The pandemic has been tough on all of us, but magic has been a wonderful distraction from the everyday grind. Throughout my time in the military, I used magic to raise morale and improve the mental wellbeing of those around me - its immersive nature has always put people in a more relaxed state.

“Magic has a way of making people smile, no matter what else is going on in the world.”

Richard joined the military in his teens and has continued to support the British Army through his tricks, touring warzones, and performing to troops all over the world.

His dedication to the military was commended by the Royal Family, who he has performed for on multiple occasions.

“I've had Prince William on stage with me in magic shows before, and I've performed for Prince Harry in the Invictus Games and at garden parties at Buckingham Palace which are always really spectacular.

“I even got to take my mum to a show at Buckingham Palace once which was a really special moment!”

With normality just around the corner, Richard is looking forward to a magical summer.
