Housebuilder welcomes new managing director

A Tamworth-based housebuilder has announced a key new appointment.

Redrow Midlands, based on Kinsall Green, has appointed Nottingham-based Bob Wilson as managing director. Formerly commercial director for the division, he brings more than 30 years’ industry experience to the role.

Bob initially trained as a quantity surveyor, then worked his way up to the position of managing director, before moving to Redrow as commercial director in 2008. His new role will see him take responsibility for driving the division forward, by securing land opportunities, launching new developments and overseeing a large team.

Bob commented: “The past 36 years in the industry have been a whirlwind, but I couldn’t be happier with the way things turned out. I’ve always had a passion for construction – there’s nothing like seeing a beautiful home being built from scratch before handing over the keys to its new owners. Part of my new role is to enable us to bring quality housing to areas that need it the most by identifying key land opportunities, giving more people across the region the opportunity to become homeowners.

“The current pandemic brings an added set of challenges, from incorporating new guidelines to making sure our team members and customers are safe. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to lead one of the company’s most successful divisions, and I’m looking forward to taking it even further.”

Redrow Midlands currently has seven developments across Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire. With new developments in the pipeline in areas including Burbage, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon, the Tamworth-based housebuilder is hoping to build another 1,000 family homes across the region over the coming years.

One of Bob’s key focuses will be Redrow Midlands’ Amington Garden Village development on Mercian Way. The development’s current phases Amington Fairway, Amington Green and now Eagle Gate at Amington, set to launch next month, offer a choice of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties. These sought-after homes are part of Redrow’s award-winning Heritage Collection and located just three miles from Tamworth’s town centre. The development provides a rural setting with excellent commuter links, including easy reach of the A5, M42 and M6 Toll.
