Woodhead Homes named best homebuilder in the UK!

North Nottinghamshire housebuilder, Woodhead Homes, has been named UK House Builder of the Year by the National Federation of Builders (NFB), thanks to its unique luxury development in the heart of Sherwood Forest.

National winners in the category for developers delivering under 35 homes per year, Woodhead Homes was celebrated by the NFB’s virtual awards ceremony for its Rufford Pastures development.

Woodhead Homes is part of the Woodhead Group, which is still based in Edwinstowe, where it was founded over 70 years ago. Their award-winning development, Rufford Pastures, is also based in Edwinstowe. It was a landmark site for the family-run firm, as the company began to build its own homes again for the first time in 20 years.

With just 64 homes on a 6.7 acre site, Rufford Pastures was designed with quality, sustainability and space in mind. At the early design stage, Woodhead Homes’ senior development team and Joseph Kemish Architects made the decision to reduce house numbers on the site from 72 to 64*. This conscious decision was made to allow for greater green areas, bigger homes and more space between every property.

Leo Woodhead, Director at Woodhead Homes, said:

“We’re delighted to have been recognised by the National Federation of Builders for our Rufford Pastures development. We are incredibly proud of the homes we’ve created and the wonderful community that has already planted itself in Edwinstowe, a place our family has called home for decades.

“We wanted to challenge the normal conventions of new build housing. The homes are genuinely flexible, large and spacious with generous ceiling heights, design flair such as double height voids and beautiful areas of glazing, connecting the inside to the outside.

“The fantastic team at Joseph Kemish Architects have embraced our design philosophy, with careful integration of architecture and landscape, you can create an exciting and very personal development, which encourages social interaction, a sense of belonging and pride of place.”

Collaborating with other local businesses is always important to Woodhead Homes, and the project team worked hard to achieve this wherever possible; sourcing the best materials and products from the natural oak doors to the beautiful bespoke designer kitchens, made locally by Colour Hill.

There are just a few homes left on this popular development. See the website for more information.

Woodhead Homes will shortly be announcing news of its newest development - watch this space!
