CITY’S YOUNG PEOPLE TO “KICKSTART” THEIR CAREERS AT NOTTINGHAM CASTLE

NOTTINGHAM Castle Trust, an independent not-for-profit charitable trust, hasprovided a boost to those looking to jumpstart their careers,by announcing a range of placements for applicants aged 16-24 that are currently claiming Universal Credit.
The vacancies have been created as part of the government’s Kickstart Scheme, which was launched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to provide additional support to young people who are at particular high-risk oflong-term unemployment following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The placements will be based at the newly refurbished Castle, giving applicants the rare opportunity to gain experience at an international heritage tourist attraction that is set to play a key role in the economic revitalisation of Nottingham when it reopens on 21June 2021.
The placements are for a minimum of 25 hours-per-week for a total of sixmonths. The Trust will be providing additional training and support to assist successful applicants with securing long-term work after the placement has been completed.
Nottingham Castle Trust is an independent registered charity which protects and shares Nottingham’s world-famous heritage with the people of Nottingham and beyond. It does this bygenerating income through the support of visitors, donors and volunteers.

The Kickstart Scheme roles are accessed via referral from the Jobcentreand include: facilities assistant, HR learning assistant, HR recruitment assistant, learning and engagement assistant and visitor host, plus additional roles to be posted in the future.
The Mighty Creatives, the leading East Midlands cultural education charity, is working in partnership with Nottingham Castle Trust to deliver the training and support aspects of the Scheme.

To apply for the roles, applicants must be aged between 16 and 24 years old and registered for Universal Credit. Applicants must be registered at their local Jobcentre, where their work coach will help them to fill in an application.
The three-year period of extensive redevelopment and conservation at Nottingham Castle followed a major £30m investment from National Heritage Lottery Fund, Nottingham City Council, D2N2 and Arts Council England, plus fundraising by Nottingham Castle Trust.
