LOCKDOWN DRIVES GROWTH WITH 15 JOBS CREATED AS JOHN PYE REOPENS

THE UK’S largest auction house network John Pye Auctions is set to re-open its doors on Monday (12 April) and is celebrating the creation of 15 new jobs, as the firm expands operations in response to the growing market demand.

John Pye has adapted its auction model throughout lockdown and has subsequently reopened its Derby site to help meet the high level of demand seen over the last 12 months - a move that takes the total sales room floorspace to more than 900,000 st. Ft. across its 18 sites.

John Pye will reopen its doors across its sites in England and Wales for auction viewing on Monday 12 April between 8am and 12pm, in line with government retail guidelines, with the Derby site launching its first online auction today (9 April).

Adam Pye, managing director at John Pye, said:

“To be taking on new sites and growing the business is a real feat during these challenging times. We’re really happy to be back in Derby at a great traditional city auction location, near to The Pentagon Island.

“We have never been busier in our 52-year-history and we are looking forward to welcoming our customers back at all of our sites across England and Wales on April 12.”

John Pye Derby - located on Chequers Road off Brian Clough Way, near Derby’s old Cattle Market - marks the 18th John Pye site, joining the likes of Chesterfield, Marchington, Edinburgh, Nottingham, South Wales and more.

John Pye offers a wide range of items to savvy shoppers, from tech and gadgets on offer through its online warranty auction to a wide range of designer clothing and homewares from a variety of high street and luxury brands.

Mark Chapman, John Pye Auctions’ Derby site manager added:

“We are thrilled to be back in Derby and expanding our operations to manage the stockpile of items we’ve received throughout the latest lockdown.

“As part of the original site management team, I moved to Chesterfield when the site relocated. The team and I are very happy to be back and training our new staff.

“We’ve expanded our sales rooms on the site to offer maximum choice to our customers. We have also dedicated one room solely to our warrantied tech consumer products, which really reflects the times as our tech auctions during lockdown have been incredibly successful with items such as PS5s and Xboxs selling way above RRP.

“We are offering nationwide home delivery as well as a limited click and collect service, so we’re looking forward to opening the site up on Monday and welcoming customers back to Derby.”
