Win signed book and business coaching from former Foxes Chief Executive

Former Leicester City Football Club Chief Executive Barrie Pierpoint has teamed up with Love Business News to offer readers the chance to win a signed copy of his latest book, plus three days of business coaching.

Minding My Own Football Business tells the story of Barrie’s time at the Foxes’ helm. In the 90s, he became the club’s first-ever Chief Executive and Director of Marketing. The book chronicles the highs and lows of his nearly 10 years there, and celebrates the story of Leicester’s achievements both on and off the pitch.

A bitter board dispute brought his time at the club to an end in January 2000, before he went on to enjoy successful spells at Portsmouth and Bradford City football clubs.

Today, Barrie is a highly respected business leader in the East Midlands. He holds Non-Executive Director roles at a host of local organisations, including Champions UK (plc) and Regal Park Property Company Ltd.

He is a former Chairman of the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, the Lincolnshire Branch of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the East Midlands Regional Advisory Panel of the Independent Broadcasting Authority. He is also a former Non-Executive Director of Waldeck Associates, DMMP Ltd, Leicester Glenfield NHS Hospital Trust and Leicester Sound Commercial Radio Station.

His company, BP Management & Marketing Services, provides consultancy and support to business owners, board members, directors and senior managers of a host of clients, from large corporates to SMEs, to help them achieve their objectives. This includes strategic planning, management development, marketing and PR, executive recruitment, personnel solutions, and business development.

To celebrate the launch of Minding My Own Football Business, Barrie is offering Love Business News readers the chance to win one of three signed copies of the book. It features contributions from over 40 prominent players, team managers and celebrity fans, including Foxes legend Steve Walsh, former England striker Emile Heskey, former managers Brian Little and Mark McGhee, and TV chef Rustie Lee.

And for one lucky SME or new start-up business, he is also offering three days’ worth of free consultancy to assist their business with any advice, guidance, business coaching or training, use him as a sounding board for ideas, give a motivational talk, or support any other business matters. This coaching alone is worth around £2,000.

Barrie said:

“I’m delighted with the success of the book so far.

“Not only is it a must-read for any Foxes fan who wants an insider’s account of what went on behind the scenes during one of the club’s most successful periods in its history, but also because it’s helped to raise vital funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People, a cause very close to my heart.

“I’ve been a part of the East Midlands business community for a long time, both during my time at Leicester City and then working with businesses across the region to help them achieve success and grow.

“We have so many amazing businesses here with strengths in a wide range of sectors, which makes this part of the UK a key driver of the national economy. So, I’m pleased to offer anyone who might be interested the chance to win a signed copy of my book, but also to offer my services to a small business or a new start-up, where I can add value and make a difference.”

Minding My Own Football Business is available online at www.mindingmyownfootballbusiness.co.uk, priced at just £15, and also at major bookstores, Amazon and eBay. A percentage of the proceeds from each book sale will go to raising vital funds for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

For your chance to win one of three signed copies of the book, plus three days’ business consultancy from the man himself, answer the following question:

Which former Foxes player, who was captain in the 90s, made 449 appearances for the club and scored 62 goals?

Winners will be chosen at random on Monday 1 May, and announced on Love Business News.

There are three prizes on offer. First prize, a signed copy of the book with a personal message, plus three days of coaching from Barrie Pierpoint, while two runners’ up will each receive a booksigned with a personal message.
