LEADING HOUSEBUILDER REVEALS LATEST INVESTMENT IN THE EAST MIDLANDS

Nottingham-based housebuilder, Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, has built 622 homes in its operational area during the past year and contributed over £102m to the UK’s economic output.

 

The achievements are highlighted in a new report which measures the housebuilder’s social and economic contribution to the Midlands over the past financial year (1st July 2019 – 30th June 2020).

The leading developer operates within Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Warwickshire.

Included within the company’s socio-economic footprint are key figures relating to the company’s support for the housebuilding supply chain, local communities, environment, public services and employment. The figures revealed the housebuilder:

  • Supported 1,580 jobs directly and through its contractors and suppliers
  • Supported 540 subcontractor companies and manufactured 90% of its components in the UK
  • Hired 19 graduates, apprentices and trainees on various employment programmes
  • 90% of components used in the construction process were manufactured in the UK.
  • Created 4.8 hectares of green space through public open spaces and private gardens.
  • Spent £7.1m on local contributions including the Community Infrastructure Levy and S106 contributions.

The report on Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Socio-Economic Footprint in 2020 was carried out by planning consultant, Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners (NLP).
