The Small Business Leadership Programme (SBLP) is free and fully funded by the Government to support the resilience, recovery and growth of SMEs during and after COVID-19. It can help develop potential for future business growth and productivity. Participants will develop strategic leadership skills and the confidence to make informed decisions to boost business performance.

The programme has been designed in collaboration with a total of 20 Small Business Charter accredited schools. The Small Business Charter (SBC) is a national accreditation awarded to business schools that excel in supporting small business, student enterprise and the local economy. To date over 2000 participants have started on the Small Business Leadership programme – that’s over 112 cohorts across the UK.

Due to the popularity of the programme and high demand, Nottingham Business School (NBS) have created space for a further 20 businesses to benefit from the leadership development programme. The programme represents a fantastic opportunity for small businesses to benefit from engaging with one of the UK’s premier business schools. Nottingham Business School are very proud to announce following a rigorous assessment process, it has retained its EQUIS accreditation - the highest international benchmark of excellence for business schools. Many aspects of NBS’ work, including connections to business and SMEs, as well as personalisation, impact of its much-expanded research, quality of courses, level of internationalisation, integration of ethics, responsibility and sustainability, were judged to be world-class. Simultaneously, NBS also received EFMD Programme Accreditation for its flagship BA (Hons) in International Business courses, which were labelled as ‘distinctive’, ‘impressive’ and ‘exceptional’. Nottingham Business School is now one of a select group of UK Business Schools that are quadruple accredited by EQUIS, EFMD, AACSB and the Small Business Charter.

SBLP participants will attend eight 1.45 hour webinars and weekly peer review sessions across ten weeks, and complete up to three hours of independent study. The programme has been designed to be manageable alongside full-time work.

Andy Damant who participated in the very first cohort of the SBLP programme at NBS commented "The course from start to finish has been very well crafted, the content well thought through and delivered by exceptionally well trained and highly regarded people in their respective fields. What we ended up with was nothing short of excellence."
