LEICESTERSHIRE COMPANY WINS NATIONAL BUSINESS AWARD

LEICESTERSHIRE COMPANY WINS NATIONAL BUSINESS AWARD

A Leicestershire-based company has been named one of the best businesses in rural Britain after winning an Amazon-backed Rural Business Award.

Brook Meadow from Market Harborough was rewarded The Triumph Over Adversity Award at the first ever virtual national final of the Rural Business Awards, in association with Amazon.

Brook Meadow is a family business, set in tranquil countryside and situated on a working farm. The site is surrounded by 400 acres of peaceful pasture and arable land, with 20 acres designated for holidaying and a breath-taking five-acre lake.

The Rural Business Awards 2020/21 marks the Awards’ sixth year of celebrating the success of businesses across the UK’s rural sector, which contributes £299bn in Gross Value Added to the overall UK economy.

Due to the impact of COVID-19, this year’s competition was run entirely online. The finalists attended the Awards’ first ever virtual final ceremony, which was held on Thursday 25th February 2021.

The winners were decided by an independent panel of judges drawn from the rural business sector, rural public sector agencies and rural charitable organisations.

Speaking after winning The Triumph Over Adversity Award, Claire Hart, Managing Partner at Brook Meadow, said:

“I am truly thrilled, as are my dear parents Jasper and Mary, to receive the Triumph Over Adversity Award alongside the other worthy winners with their incredibly inspiring stories this unique category has shone a light on. The current situation is very difficult, so to receive a Rural Business Award means the absolute world to my family and our team, who I thank wholeheartedly for their support.

Our drive has been to look after our family and our heritage, my brother’s legacy and my son’s future. Gaining national recognition for all we have overcome and achieved together is very special. I would love the success of Brook Meadow’s story to provide a glimmer of hope for anyone who is struggling – believe in yourself, better days are on the horizon. Thank you, Rural Business Awards and Amazon.”

“It’s an honour to support the Rural Business Awards’ efforts to showcase the incredible talent of British rural business,” said John Boumphrey, UK Country Manager, Amazon. “On behalf of Amazon, I would like to congratulate Brook Meadow on this achievement, and I wish them further success in the future.”

The Rural Business Awards is the brainchild of Leicestershire businesswomen Anna Price and Jemma Clifford, who wanted to showcase the wealth of entrepreneurial talent in rural areas of Britain.

Co-founder of The Rural Business Awards, Anna Price, added:

“On behalf of the Rural Business Awards, I would like to congratulate Brook Meadow on this well-deserved win. I would also like to extend my congratulations to all the businesses who made it to the final and wish them well in their future endeavours.”
