Top Midlands IT company sponsors DIS

Leading IT and telecoms company Wytech has become the latest sponsor of the Derbyshire Institute of Sport (DIS).

DIS managing director, Chloe Maudsley, said:

“We are thrilled to be working with Wytech. Their support will enable us to continue developing, inspiring and supporting the next generation of talented young athletes who have their sights set on representing Great Britain at future world championships.”

DIS currently supports more than 40 sports and was delighted to learn that Wytech’s digital marketer and social media guru, Hannah Ward, is a snooker champion. Hannah won the World Women’s Snooker U21 title six times and achieved a highest world ranking of four on the adult ladies circuit. She took a break to start a family and develop a career in marketing but plans to return to tournament snooker in the future.

 

Hannah and her father, Wytech’s managing director Mark Jones, have personal insight into the sacrifices and dedication required by talented youngsters with the ambition to become world-class athletes. Wytech’s sponsorship of DIS will enable the company to support young athletes and also access health and wellbeing support in the workplace for their own employees.

 

Under the DIS Thrive sponsorship programme, all Wytech staff members will be able to call on the DIS team of experts and coaches for online exercise, nutrition, lifestyle and performance psychology support.

Wytech was named the Midlands' IT Services Provider of the year for 2019-20 in the Midlands Enterprise Awards. The company is based at Ednaston Park Business Centre, near Ashbourne, but works with businesses of all sizes across the UK providing fully-managed IT and telecoms solutions.

All DIS support services have moved online during lockdown so that its athletes can still work on strength and conditioning, physiotherapy, nutrition and sports psychology with the DIS team.

 

DIS has seen 25 of its athletes achieve world-class status. They include: world pro tennis player Jay Clarke; world table tennis sensation Liam Pitchford; Olympic swimmer Mollie Renshaw; Commonwealth Games medal winner Niamh Emmerson; cyclists from the world record-breaking Huub Wattbike team and five times world champion para cyclist Katie Toft. Many others who are currently being supported are on the path to success in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2028 LA Olympics.
