BDO has announced a new partner in the Midlands

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has announced the promotion of 20 new partners across the firm with Jonathan Lanes named Risk Advisory Services (RAS) partner in the Midlands.

The promotions, delayed from June 2020 as a result of COVID-19, are effective from 1^st January 2021.

Jon joined BDO in 2007 and has since progressed through the ranks at the firm as he has established himself as a specialist in corporate governance, risk management and internal control. Jon is a trusted adviser to businesses across the manufacturing, consumer markets, construction and pharmaceutical sectors, as well as delivering services to the not for profit sectors including: housing, education and charities.

Jon plays an active role in BDO’s East Midlands leadership team and has developed and nurtured effective teams to help clients with solving economic and regulatory problems, leading effective management of risk and strengthening resiliencefor organisations while enhancing service in the region.

Jon Lanes, partner at BDO said:“BDO is a great place to work with a leadership team which is committed to creating a culture that allows people to develop and progress in their career and achieve their own ambitions. This supportive culture has continued – even strengthened – as we’ve all adapted to remote working. I look forward to championing this in my new role as partner.

“The past year has been a challenge for companies in the region and 2021 brings new opportunities as well as some hurdles for businesses in the region. Against a backdrop of increased regulatory requirements, we are ideally placed to support organisations with the implementation of robust corporate governance, risk management frameworks and internal audit services that will ultimately help them achieve their goals.”

Nationally, the new partners have significant experience across a wide range of sectors and specialisms including the professional services, technology and media, financial services and private equity. Eight of the 20 promotions are outside of London, including Jon in the Midlands.

Richard Rose, partner at BDO and head of the Midlands, said: “2020 was a testing year for businesses and individuals alike. None of us could have predicted that we’d be working as a fully-remote workforce for almost twelve months as a result of the pandemic.

“As a firm we put a number of measures in place to help us better weather the storm, including a pause on promotions earlier last year. Announcing Jon’s promotion to partner is an encouraging start to the year and very well deserved.”

Andrew Mair, partner at BDO and head of the East Midlands, added: “The process to become a partner is rigorous and Jon’s commitment to leading growth and high-quality advice within the local market is a clear demonstrationof achieving our core purpose of helping others succeed.”
