NOTTINGHAM DEVELOPER CELEBRATES YEAR OF CHARITY COMMITMENT

Looking back on its charity commitments in 2020, Nottingham-based developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes is celebrating the second year of its Community Fund scheme.

As part of the initiative launched by parent company Barratt Developments PLC, the five star developer donated £1,000 to a charity or community group each month to support those in need during a challenging year.

Employees of Barratt and David Wilson Homes each selected the organisations that were close to their hearts, ensuring a total of £12,000 was donated to charities within the homebuilder’s operational areas of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Lincolnshire.

Amongst the charities receiving the £1,000 donations in the developer’s home county were Tracy’s Street Kitchen, The Beacon Project, Nottingham Hospitals Charity, Hope Foodbank, When You Wish Upon a Star and the Mayor of Broxtowe’s Christmas Appeal.

Elsewhere, contributions were also made to Doorways Derby, Leicester Hospitals Charity, Derby and Burton Hospital Trust, PANDAS and BAC O’Connor.

Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said:

“The second year of our Community Fund scheme has been a great success and it’s been a privilege to support a number of excellent charities and organisations in what was a difficult year for everyone.

“We’re proud of our team for nominating the charities in need of funding as we continue to build strong relationships within the local community.

“As the country’s largest housebuilder we are committed to creating a positive legacy. We want to lead the industry not just in the quality of the homes and developments we build, but also in our work with charities and good causes throughout the UK.”

In addition to its Community Fund donations, Barratt and David Wilson Homes also made contributions to Newark Foodbank and Leicester Foodbank, all whilst fundraising for its Charity of the Year, Rainbows Children’s Hospice.
