The new recruits recently completed their curved wall assignment, preparing them for difficult details that are used in David Wilson detailing, making all of the difference.

All of the apprentices for the Solihull-based homebuilder completed the work to a great standard with a fantastic attitude and excellent efforts.

Alan Ferguson, Bricklaying Area Manager at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “Our apprentices learn a whole host of skills whilst working with us including health and safety and all aspects of their trade they have chosen whether that be carpentry or brickwork.

“Each apprentice has an individual presence on site but they all have the same willingness to learn and better themselves.”

In the apprenticeship scheme, students = split their time between real work on site and gaining qualifications in college.

When joining the programme, David Wilson Homes provides tools and protective equipment, accident and life cover, health and wellbeing toolkit as well as real life advice and tips whilst working on a new homes development.

Alan continued: “A good apprentice should have a good attitude, enthusiastic, willingness to learn, able to take up new challenges and a good sense of humour.

“I hope that the apprentices achieve a safe and happy life within the building trade that serves them as well as it has myself for 42 years.

“I feel a huge sense of satisfaction that I am involved with David Wilson Homes Mercia and giving something back to the building trade. In my opinion, we give apprentices the best opportunities and training available and they all have the full backing from everyone at David Wilson Homes.”
