Derby accountancy and business advisors make Christmas donation to city-based child mental health charity, Bridge the Gap

A Derby accountancy and business advisory company has brought some Christmas cheer to a city charity which aims to improve the mental health of children, parents and teachers.

Duffield Road-based Vibrant Accountancy, have, on behalf of their clients, made a donation to Bridge the Gap; a child mental health community interest company (CIC) after a difficult year for charities.

Vibrant co-founder Beverley Wakefield said:

“As a usual thank you, we would normally send a Christmas gift at this time of year to our clients.

“However, this year has been challenging for everyone and support services such as Bridge the Gap – an organisation which is close to our hearts - require our help now more than ever.

“We feel that making a donation on behalf of Vibrant Accountancy and our clients would have more of an impact than gifts. The demands on the services which Bridge the Gap provide have gone up as a result of the coronavirus pandemic but their resources have fallen.

“We’re in a mental health pandemic and for now, focusing on our mental health is vitally important.

“Bridge the Gap are dedicated to providing vital support and improving the mental health of children, parents and teachers in Derby city and further afield. This has always been essential but, even more so now in this current climate, having a safe space and the right interventions for us and our next generation is essential.”

Jennifer Wyman, director of Bridge the Gap, said:

“We would like to thank Vibrant Accountancy and their clients for their kind and much-needed Christmas donation, which will go towards continuing to provide our services, which includes wellbeing packs for children in the city who need them.

“We have put together 1,000 over the past 12 months and recently delivered packs to the children at Ravensdale Infant School in Mickleover – the school which was destroyed by fire back in October.

“Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children is so rewarding. It is why we do what we do, to let them know that the world cares about and values them.”

Bridge the Gap have launched a Crowdfunder campaign to raise funds to continue to make an impact on the mental health of children in Derby. To donate, visit crowdfunder.co.uk/bridge-the-gap-mental-health-support-for-families
