Derby set to welcome a raft of new stores and Christmas pop-ups this December

Eight new retailers, a mixture of stores and pop-ups, are set to open their doors at the Derby Centre, just in time for the festive season.

Local award-winning luxury store Young Ideas will be opening its new Derbyshire location at the shopping destination on Thursday 3rd December. The brand, which was founded in Ashbourne in 1968, will open on Level 2 next to Ernest Jones, stocking both premium women’s and menswear. Visitors to the store can discover a carefully curated range of the finest women’s and men’s casualwear and formalwear, as well as quality shoes, bags and accessories from more than 80 leading designers such as Paul Smith, Hugo Boss, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Emporio Armani and Belstaff.

Elsewhere within the centre, five additional pop-ups will open just in time for Christmas. Visitors can once again shop at Calendar Club, Leaf Gifts, Sense Aroma and Thai Gifts, who are all returning by popular demand throughout the festive period. A Derby County Football Club pop-up will also open from Wednesday 2nd December, giving visitors the chance to pick up the perfect stocking fillers, such as a club-themed shaving gift set.

Both of this year’s Hatch competition winners will also open their new stores next month. Emerging jewellery designer-maker Eve Coffey will open a new kiosk on Wednesday 2nd December, where locals can discover an array of bespoke hand-crafted resin jewellery and homewares. Clay-modellers JumpingCLAY will be opening on Thursday 3rd December, offering fun and immersive workshop experiences, where families can take part in a variety of sessions aimed at children and adults of all ages. Both Derbyshire-based businesses will be located on Level 1 at the shopping destination.

Adam Tamsett, general manager at the Derby Centre, said:

“We’re delighted to be welcoming Young Ideas and a number of brilliant pop-ups to the centre next month, further strengthening to our offer for visitors over the festive period.

“We’re always working hard to refresh our brand line-up to create the best retail and leisure experiences for our visitors and the Derbyshire community. With a number of extra safety measures in place throughout the centre, such as enhanced cleaning and footfall monitoring, visitors can rest assured that Derby Centre is closely following Government guidelines to offer a safe place to shop this Christmas.”

Safety measures in place across the centre include additional staff on standby to help manage footfall, the requirement to wear face coverings throughout, enhanced cleaning regimes across all visitor touch points, as well as hand sanitising stations.
