Leading developer welcomes new commercial graduate through its ASPIRE Programme

Barratt and David Wilson Homes has appointed a new Commercial Graduate at its head office in Northampton.

Rhys George, from Swansea, joins the Commercial team and is currently completing the ASPIRE Programme, which will allow him to experience many different areas of the industry.

After undertaking a BA in History and a MA in Social Media & Political Communication at Loughborough University, Rhys brings a wealth of skills with him and is now applying these in his role with the reputable housebuilder.

Rhys, 23, has just started his first eight week rotation in which he will meet a variety of people on site and come to understand how their roles contribute to the construction process.

He said:

“I was attracted to a career with Barratt and David Wilson Homes because of its fantastic reputation as a five star housebuilder and I am thrilled to be starting the ASPIRE Programme.

“I am currently shadowing site management, including Pride in the Job award winners, which is helping me to understand what makes Barratt and David Wilson Homes stand out in the industry. I am learning the importance of contracts management, the construction process, health and safety and customer services at the business.

“Barratt and David Wilson Homes has done a fantastic job to ensure my start date has not been impacted by the pandemic and to make certain that I get the best possible experience out of the graduate programme, even whilst the office remains closed.”

Rhys chose to work for Barratt and David Wilson Homes because of its prestigious reputation for both the quality of its houses to the way it looks after its staff.

He will soon be able to take over some of the responsibilities he is shadowing in the coming weeks, which will allow him to learn how important each stage is to one another, and how production must be accurate, on time and to the highest quality.

Rhys hopes to continue learning more about the industry from the ASPIRE Programme and is sure that it will provide him with the right tools for a great career within the company.

John Dillon, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands, said:

“We would like to welcome Rhys to the team and wish him the best of luck in his career with us. As a leading housebuilder in the South Midlands, we pride ourselves on not only providing a first-class service for our customers, but also ensuring we look after our staff and provide opportunities to progress within the company and achieve their ambitions.

“We are deeply committed to developing raw talent and work closely with our new employees to ensure they get the best from their new role.”
