Nottingham Lettings Agency Bucks Trend With 'New Base' at Carlton Police Station

A Nottinghamshire Lettings Agency has bucked the post-Covid trend for working from home by moving into a bespoke new headquarters on the site of the old Carlton Police Station, just three miles east of Nottingham city centre.

Base Lettings, which specialises in residential and commercial lettings and management throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the West Midlands, moved in on Monday 27 July – and the new office has since been met with the stamp of approval, both from staff and clients.

Sarah Conneally, director at Base Lettings, said: “Our previous premises were located in a shared office on Carlton Road. The space was very tight and uninspiring. It had no great appeal for visiting clients and it provided very little scope for expansion.

“The great thing about our new office is that we’ve designed it exactly how we want it. It’s very bespoke, with a dedicated tenant room, an open-plan layout and a gorgeous industrial feel, with handmade desks built from railway sleepers, reclaimed building joists and scaffolding poles.

“It’s a great place to work and a fantastic environment to help us engage more productively, both with property owners and tenants.”

The former Carlton Police Station on Cavendish Road was closed in June 2017 as part of Nottinghamshire Police’s campaign to strip £12 million from its budget – and the office erected in its place has made great use of reclaimed and refurbished materials from various other sites.

In addition to the reclaimed bricks for the exposed brick walls, it features a set of vintage red velvet cinema seats for the waiting area and there’s even a Harley Davidson motorbike in the office to help bring a little extra colour and interest to the workplace.

In the wake of its move to the new location, Base Lettings, which was established in Nottingham in September 2017, is also now looking to add to its workforce with at least two new staff this year.

Sarah added: “There’s plenty of space here for expansion and, with our client base growing right across the midlands and the North, we’re already looking to fill a couple of extra desks, both with an apprentice and a property manager.”
