Poppy PR’s 'Positive Pandemic Posts' Lead To New Educational Contract

A public relations company’s positive outlook during lockdown has led to a new partnership being formed.

Poppy PR’s upbeat attitude throughout its social media postings during the pandemic caught the eye of Habib Sharief.

Habib is director of Derby-based Tutor Me, a Centre of Excellence specialising in the teaching of primary, secondary, GCSE and A-Level English, Maths and sciences.

After a false start launching his business just a few weeks before lockdown, he approached Poppy PR for help in promoting his venture now the economy is picking up, and after reading of how Poppy PR had continued not only to trade but also to help other firms to prosper during uncertain times.

Now Habib’s Tutor Me is Poppy PR’s latest client.

Contacting Tina Clough, owner and founder of the Castle Donington-based firm, Habib wrote: “I came across your Instagram page during the lockdown when thousands of businesses were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It was refreshing to see local businesses pitching in together in order to help one another succeed, achieve and ultimately to get Derby on the map with some great initiatives in our city.”

Poppy PR’s social media posts had included news of the company signing up new clients, including Sky Recruitment Solutions, despite the economic uncertainty sparked by Covid-19.

The public relations company, which was established 10 years ago, also posted footage of Tina talking about the importance of staying visible during a recession or crisis such as Coronavirus, and helped promote how a number of its clients were diversifying their services during the current climate.

Tina, who has been shortlisted as a finalist in the upcoming East Midlands Leadership Awards, said: “We are delighted to have Tutor Me on board, especially following the difficulties for everyone in the past six months.

“It’s not only a signal that things are picking up, but it’s also fantastic to be able to help promote such a great service, which is based in a deprived area of Derby and aims to help local youngsters get the grades they deserve.”

She added: “Our research found that business owners who invested during the last recession, continued to make growth for up to five years after the recession had ended.

“So it’s heartening to see businesses like Tutor Me moving forward with their strategies, and hopefully seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

“We are looking forward to helping them through the pandemic and beyond.”

Habib, who is based in newly renovated offices in Normanton Road, Derby, provides professional male and female tutors, and also offers one-to-one online tuition.

He said: “It was refreshing to see such positive messages coming from a local company and I felt Poppy PR’s ethos was the perfect match for Tutor Me in that we have common goals - both companies want to see people succeed and thrive.

“We have been very impressed so far with the service we have received, and we look forward to future work with Poppy PR.”
