NK Motors gifts top of the range car to me&dee

The UK’s largest Kia car dealership has gifted a car to Derby based me&dee charity.

NK Motors has provided the charity with a brand-new Kia car, which was presented to me&dee on Friday 4th September at the NK Motors showroom on Pride Park. As well as Rammie from Derby County making an appearance at the event, a special message from the Mayor of Derby, Frank Harwood, was also played congratulating the charity and offering his support.

me&dee were joined at the event by other Derby businesses who pledge their support to the charity, all of whom are Marketing Derby Bondholders and play a key role in the community. There were representatives present not just from NK Motors and DCFC, but also ‘Av It Media, who are Diamond Sponsors of the charity; and Yvonne Gorman from Essential Print Services who donated promotional material for the event and is the longest standing business support of the charity.

The car, a Proceed GT Line, worth almost £30,000 has been dual branded with the me&dee and NK Motors logos and NK Motors will replace the car with a new one every six months. This generous gift is part of the company’s support of me&dee as one of its charities of the year.

me&dee Charity was founded by Maria Hanson MBE in 2006. It supports families and children facing uncertain and life-limiting circumstances, providing special holidays to create memories and make the most of the precious time they have left together.

Maria Hanson commented: “When someone offers such tremendous support as this, it demonstrates that they believe in the work we are doing, which is extremely powerful to us. Each holiday for the families we support costs over £400, so saving the cost of a lease car on top of this is hugely beneficial to the charity and will mean we can reach out to even more families. There is always a need to help more people than we have resources for and funding is always desperately required.”

At the event, Rob White, Marketing Specialist at NK Motors, said: “It’s an honour to be able to support me&dee and to hand over the keys to Maria and Mark today. They do some incredible work for local families and we’re thrilled that our business is able to support them with a donation like this. It’s great that the Mayor, DCFC, Marketing Derby and so many other Derby business owners were able to join us for the presentation today.”

Sanj Kumar, Dealer Principal of NK Motors, said: “We hope the donation of this premium car will have a huge impact for the charity and hope that the finances it frees up will help me&dee continue its amazing work. Now that our showroom is open again, we have the collection boxes out on display and, thanks to our customers’ generosity, we have already been able to raise a significant amount for the charity.”

me&dee needs more support than ever as all its events this year have been cancelled due to COVID-19 and some grants it has previously relied on have been withdrawn.

The charity is looking to add to its support network by inviting other businesses to become a Corporate Sponsor. With packages from just £20 a month, sponsors can help with the ongoing running costs of the charity’s new lodge in Sherwood Forest and help me&dee deliver the memory holidays to the families its supports.
