NOTTINGHAM MUM GIVES HER CAREER A LOCKDOWN MAKEOVER

A new home interior and consultancy business is launching in Nottingham to help house owners transform their pads into the place of their dreams.

Howson Design is the new business set up by Katy Raywood, providing high quality advice on interior design and home staging, renovating much loved furniture and creating bespoke handmade curtains, cushions, bedding and accessories.

The West Bridgford mum-of-two decided during lockdown that it was time to give her career a makeover after spending over 18 years teaching the arts in schools.

Katy said: “We’ve all spent so much time in our homes over the last few months and many of us have tried our hands at a spot of decorating. Sometimes you just need a bit of inspiration to transform a space, find unique accessories, or help sell a property you have on the market.

“Just before lockdown, I had started to think about launching my own interiors business and although it has been difficult at times during the current climate, I’m so excited to now be up and running.

“I have loved everything to do with interiors and home decor for as long as I can remember and when I renovated a house from scratch a few years ago, it really sparked the idea of starting a new interior brand. I want to cater for those looking for something a little bit different with a mix of classic and contemporary styles.”

Katy is keen to work with local businesses and is working with luxury kitchen company Kesseler Kitchens, based in Nottinghamshire, a business she believes reflects her love of timeless design and quality workmanship.

Scott Slater, joint-managing director at Kesseler Kitchens said: “Kesseler and our design team will work with Katy from an initial brief stage to designing luxury kitchen spaces for clients who want a high quality, hand-built kitchen.”

Katy has also sourced products from local artists, furniture and craft makers to offer her clients bespoke furniture, curtains, upholstery and home accessories, alongside national and international designers.

She added: “I believe good design comes from the heart, we are all individuals and my aim is to work with clients to provide a warm and inviting space for the family to enjoy, catering for all budgets. I would really like to make interior design more accessible to all.”
