IoD appoints Lincolnshire Police ACC Kerrin Wilson as Ambassador

The Institute of Directors (IoD) has appointed Lincolnshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Kerrin Wilson as its first Policing and Criminal Justice Ambassador for Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland. 

The move further strengthens the relationship between the IoD and Lincolnshire Police as they create closer links between the worlds of business and criminal justice. 

Kerrin has been Assistant Chief Constable with Lincolnshire Police for more than two years. Prior to this, she headed Cleveland & Durham (Police) Special Operations Unit, the culmination of 27 years’ service across four North East Forces 

Her background includes operational uniform, CID and specialist roles. Kerrin has also worked in hostage negotiating across the world and is a strong advocate for BAME and women’s aspirations. 

Kerrin Wilson said: “I’m delighted to join the IoD team and look forward to helping directors to tackle and reduce crime and disorder affecting businesses. Around 22 per cent of recorded crime in Lincolnshire affects a business – we want to create a safer environment through regular communication and engagement with the local business community.” 

Kerrin joins a new look IoD Greater Lincolnshire and Rutland team which is set to play a leading role in the recovery of business across the region under recently appointed chair Michelle Allison. 

Michelle said: “The IoD has a Royal Charter to promote professionalism while creating better directors and a better economy. We are not just for private company directors, we exist to support and represent all types of leaders. By bringing together directors from the private, public and third sectors, we are driving collaboration and helping to create a better economy for everyone.” 

Lincolnshire Police Chief Constable Bill Skelly has achieved Chartered Director status – the IoD’s highest qualification for professional directors. 

Bill said: “I think it is absolutely wonderful that Kerrin has been appointed in the role as an IoD Ambassador for Policing and Criminal Justice. I am a firm believer in bringing the public and private sectors together and developing the leadership skills of both and this is a fantastic opportunity to share experiences and understanding.” 

The IoD is the UK’s number one organisation for directors, providing connections, professional development and a lobbying voice for all types of business. The Institute helped to secure vital support for directors during the Covid-19 pandemic, including financial assistance for wage bills and changes to insolvency rules.
