East Midlands Student Fashion Awards 2020

East Midlands Student Fashion Awards 2020

Just when you thought fashion events were a thing of the past, FASHANNE proves otherwise bringing an innovative digital fashion show for everyone to experience in the comfort of their own home.

FASHANNE is pleased to announce that it will be hosting two Online Awards to recognise 3rd year talent from four Universities; The University of Derby, De Montfort University in Leicester, Nottingham Trent and The University of Northampton, who would’ve ordinarily taken part in the event earlier this year.

The Online Awards film will go live on the FASHANNE website and shared on social media on July 30th at 7:30pm.

For many students across the UK, their university experience was cut short due to Covid-19, FASHANNE is providing a unique opportunity for them to be a part of the 2020 virtual Fashion Design Awards.

The two Awards are: “The Judge’s Choice Award” and “The People’s Choice Award”. Fashanne’s panel of Judges from Paul Smith, Next, John Smedley, the Pentland group, ITL - Intelligent Labelling Solutions and GreenEarth Cleaning are already deliberating on the designs of our category finalists.

Student’s entries are displayed on the Fashanne website within 8 categories: Athleisure, Commercial Design, Footwear and Accessory Design, Knitwear Design, Menswear Design, Sustainability, Textile Design and Womenswear. Images of the student’s designs along with their concept is shown, and individuals are encouraged to take a look and vote for their favourite. The student with the most votes will be the winner of “The People’s Choice Award”.

The two winners will receive a Fashanne 2020 Certificate, £100 and a VIP opportunity to showcase their work at next year’s Fashanne event.

Anne Davies, FASHANNE Founder and television broadcaster said: “Fashanne is always a well-attended event with leading fashion experts, talented design students, local businesses and the public coming together to enjoy an evening of fashion. We were disappointed to cancel the event earlier this year, but our team have been able to recreate the glamour and excitement of the Awards night for a special online version to be broadcast the evening of July 30th.

“We invite you to join our lead judge, the enigmatic, Patrick Grant of the BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee and host of fashion industry leaders as the cream of our university fashion design students share their innovative designs with you. The film will showcase all the students’ designs, the Judges’ comments and of course the two winners, so join us for a night of catwalk glamour and innovation.”
