AMETEK Land Welcomes MP Lee Rowley in Showcase of VIRALERT Temperature Screening System in Fight Against COVID-19

An advanced technology for screening human body temperature was demonstrated to Lee Rowley, Member of Parliament for North East Derbyshire, at AMETEK Land’s headquarters in Dronfield on 3 July 2020.

 

A world leader in non-contact temperature measurements for industry, AMETEK Land originally developed its VIRLALERT infrared screening system in Dronfield following the 2002 SARS outbreak. The technology to monitor for elevated temperature, an indicator of fever symptoms associated with COVID-19, has been developed to enable the launch of a brand-new product, the VIRALERT 3. The VIRALERT 3 is a compact, simple-to-use and affordable system that can help businesses, facilities and public spaces reopen safely, and provide resilience to help keep them open.

 

Designed to screen visitors at an entry point without slowing the flow of people, VIRALERT 3 technology scans without any person-to-person contact, keeping both parties safe from disease transmission. Using automatic face detection, the simple camera-and-laptop system analyses the skin temperature of people’s faces before taking a reading that is accurate to within 0.5oC, then calculates core body temperature within two seconds.
