Local ‘Lawn Master’ gets a Twitter Boost from Theo Paphitis

A lawn care expert from Retford has received a business boost from Retail Entrepreneur Theo Paphitis. Ian Stephens from Lawn Master Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire, tweeted Theo about his business during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and was one of six weekly winners to gain a retweet by Theo to his 500,000 Twitter followers. The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 2500 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.

Business and retail entrepreneur and self-confessed Shopkeeper, Theo re‐tweeted Ian’s message to his almost 500,000 followers and as a result, homeowners from across the two counties have been getting in touch to request a free lawn analysis. Winners are also profiled on the #SBS website (www.theopaphitissbs.com) that is exclusive to all Small Business Sunday winners.

Former golf course manager Ian has a degree in Sports Turf Science and has managed turf for more than 30 years. In addition to transforming lacklustre lawns, he is renowned for his love of the natural world and for being an avid orchid spotter!

He said: “It has been great to receive this support from Theo. I’m part of a national company, but I’m also very much a part of the small business community in the region. I support local business and also local charities, including Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and several local hospices, and I encourage others to do the same. I’ve learnt a great deal about running a business since joining Lawn Master and I enjoy taking part in ‘Success Hour’ discussions on Twitter where small business owners share ideas and experiences. There are so many talented, knowledgeable and skilled people in our communities offering a wide variety of products and services, and they all need our support in order to thrive. If we all make an effort to ‘buy local’ wherever possible, it is helping our communities and the local economy to thrive.”

Small business champion and Ryman Stationery, Robert Dyas and Boux Avenue Chairman, Theo Paphitis, said: “We are thrilled to welcome new #SBS members every week and highlight just how important it is to support our small businesses here in the UK. My vision is that everyone who has ever won a #SBS re-tweet from me becomes part of a friendly club; like-minded individuals who can share successes and learnings. The website will also give a valuable profile to the winners chosen and I wish Ian every success.”

Anyone looking for a re‐tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5pm and 7.30pm and include the hashtag #SBS. Six lucky businesses are re‐tweeted every Monday at 8pm and then invited to enter their profile on the new website, attend the annual #SBS networking event and take advantage of the networking opportunities.
