Torr Waterfield doing their #Do1Thing ready for post lockdown

Pioneering a greener future Torr Waterfield, an established accountancy firm in the heart of Leicestershire, are proud to boast two new Electric Vehicle charging points at their main office in Clarence Street Leicester. The #Do1Thing initiative was to simply do 1 thing that will have a positive impact on climate change. For Torr Waterfield it was an easy choice. More and more people are making the switch to electric vehicles and in order to support their clients and their staff, Torr Waterfield decided to provide a free EV charging service. An option that is still surprisingly scarce in many company premises in Leicestershire.

In Leicester, there are a host of charging stations available at various car parks, shopping centres and there is due to be an introduction of more on street EV charging stations. However, for businesses with an accessible car parks for staff and clients, there is an increasing demand for charging points. The upward trend in EV purchases is predicted to continue to grow as more and more people opt for an electric vehicle. The government have outlined some ambitious plans to reduce our carbon footprint and have made switching to an EV easier with multiple grants and incentives.

Mike Waterfield, Managing Partner, explained the reason behind their decision was based on the fact that EV charging points should be made easily accessible, especially in businesses and it won’t be long before EV’s are part of our everyday life and as a company they want to support the transition.

“In order to help with the convenience of using this new environmentally friendly transportation I feel that it is important that electric vehicle (EV) charging points should be made available wherever possible.”

This is certainly true as we see Leicester City centre adding more roadside charging points, which will be mostly installed in the lampposts. Making the steps to becoming more environmentally friendly has never been so easy with the government help. From installation grants, company car incentives, there are some amazing cost savings available. The grants won’t be around forever, so there isn’t a better time to take advantage of the scheme. Torr Waterfield reached out to Blaby Electrical, an approved EV ChargePoint installer, and found the process was much easier than expected.

We asked Blaby Electrical to install two EV charging points in our car park. This was carried out efficiently and quickly. For any company that is thinking of having an EV point installed I would encourage them to just get it done. Blaby Electrical will remove all of the hassle of which unit to choose and the appreciation from your team and customers is all positive.

As companies begin to reopen their doors and lockdown lifts, this is the perfect time to take advantage of the scheme and support everyone’s efforts for a greener environment. One small change done by us all can make a big impact when it comes to climate change.
