Grads4Nottm scheme goes remote in its 6th year

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) students will spend two weeks working remotely with local businesses gaining valuable work experience whilst solving business challenges.

Over 70 NTU students taking part in Grads4Nottm programme will partner with companies including Boots, MYUNiDAYS and the Nottingham Playhouse to develop solutions to real-life challenges faced by local companies.

The initiative, which is running 8th – 19th June, aims to boost the numbers of graduates who choose to stay in the county by raising awareness of the range of businesses and types of jobs available in the area.

This year the Grads4Nottm programme will be an entirely online. Students will spend 2 weeks working remotely with their assigned business to support them with their challenge. On the final day of the initiative, students will take part in virtual presentations and a live webinar to present their completed challenges.

The programme gives local employers the opportunity to showcase their organisations to students and connects them with the pool of graduate talent at NTU. All challenges are advertised anonymously, taking away any brand bias and putting all employers on an even playing field.

Amy Underwood, Business Services Consultant at NTU, said, “Grads4Nottm is in its 6th year and we are proud to be delivering the first ever virtual Grads4Nottm.

We have worked hard with our employers to deliver Grads4Nottm virtually and change to a truly digital way of working.  Grads4Nottm is a fantastic initiative to showcase the opportunities and businesses in Nottingham to NTU’s students and graduates.  Students will get to experience working in a virtual environment whilst tackling a real-life business challenge for our employers.

The employers and students have been fantastic at adapting to a new way of working at such short notice, and I am looking forward to seeing the finished projects at the showcase event.”

Commenting on their involvement in Grade4Nottm in 2019 Hayley Dennett, Recruitment Manager, Early Careers and Education at Boots said “Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I would definitely recommend Grads4Nottm for any business looking at a new challenge.”

Matt Boam, Managing Director, Print 4 Ltd added, “Every Nottingham company of all sizes should seriously consider taking part. One of the most rewarding schemes we have been involved in.”
